4 Habits Corporate Employees Must Unlearn To Successfully Build Their Own Business

I've been a really good employee before. Always added major gains to the bottom line revenue of companies I've worked with. Faithful, loyal, competent, you name it - I REALLY prided myself in those things!

When I started my own business, it hit me with a hard dose of reality:

The success strategies that make you a good employee or even a contract-labor service provider will make you a broke business owner!

And that's where I find a lot of people get stuck.

Their usual mode of operation makes them an excellent employee, the best of the best, highest performers - but when it comes to business - and operating a business, they struggle.

The very things that makes you a successful employee will destroy your chances of being profitable as a business owner.

Read that again. Once you get this, limitless possibilities in business open up for you.

The 4 habits of breaking out of a "corporate employee" mindset into a business "owner/entrepreneur" mindset are as follows:

1.) Embrace rejection from other people.

2.) Be 100% OK with not having all the answers.

3.) Start taking uncertain, risky action, even without a plan.

4.) Be 100% OK with making big mistakes regularly, and learning from them.

As an employee, if you can AVOID all 4 of these, you will be a ROCKSTAR employee.

As a business owner, trying to avoid all of these will keep you broke. You need to embrace these 4 things!

You have to run FULL FORCE into these 4 habits with everything you got and embrace them as good things to be successful in business.

That's the big shift.

If you can embrace all of those 4 things as good things, you can be a successful business owner.

You see, all of those things are positives as a business owner and extreme negatives as an employee!

Many people struggle to grasp and struggle to gain traction, realizing that they have to embrace these 4 things fully to be successful in business.

The people who make the most money as business owners FULLY embrace these 4 things, and the ones who struggle and are broke don't!

Sometimes, it takes therapy to even break people out of the employee pattern because of abuse surrounding these 4 things! That's why it's so hard because it's burned into our brain never to allow these things to happen.

Yet as a business owner, these are the things you want to happen for you to gain traction!

I help people within my coaching learn how to start to test things out, see what works, take massive action, and start moving the needle forward in their business.

Huge Tip To Effectively Nurture Prospects Into Sales

We have to get to know people. We have to understand what they are going through.

At the beginning of building a business online, I always thought there were these great tricks and hacks you could do to "make people buy from you" and never have to talk to real people or give your real name.

This I came to discover is the furthest thing from the truth.

Not only that, just having a good product or service isn't enough to get people to come to you.

You have to go out and create profitable opportunities every single day. You have to create situations where you - and your target customer are connected, talking with each other to learn what you don't know about them. This is the only way to get data to grow your business and sell effectively.

Too many people overcomplicate this process. It's as simple as just having a conversation and starting by getting comfortable having conversations.

We have to have these conversations without ulterior motives of people buying from us either. You might think, "That's impossible. I always want someone to buy from me."

What if you just talked with someone and had no desire for them to buy from you - for the sake of you growing in the skill of connecting with other people? It wouldn't be a waste of time. Why is this something you are avoiding?

That's a question to ask yourself. In your business, you're going to have to get better at your people skills and your ability to connect with other people.

We can't skip, bypass or hack our way with the latest greatest marketing system away from having a real connection with other people.

Online sales are about connecting with the people who need what you offer - demonstrating value, showing them that you are trustworthy - and leading them to buy what you are selling. That's it.

What's preventing you from connecting with people? I often hear people say, "Well, I just don't know the right way to do it and the right things to do. I have so many ideas but not sure which to do."

Doing something would be nice. Starting with one of those ideas, and even if they don't pan out how you want, being willing to trial - and error to connect with other people is part of the process.

Have you been avoiding having a connection with other humans? Have you been trying to figure out some way to sell online without having to talk to people?

If you don't have a clue whom you're selling to, and you're not connecting with people, you can't build a successful business because you'll always be shooting in the dark.

So intentionally seeking out and creating opportunities both for you to get comfortable talking with other people - and you connecting with potential buyers to lead them to buy from you will be vital for your business success.

There are many great ways to do this:

  • Facebook Groups

  • Email List

  • Social Media Content

  • Phone Calls

  • Blogging

  • Copywriting

Any way that you can connect with people to get to know them and learn what you don't currently know already will help your business.

Remember: you don't currently know everything there is to know about your target customer - and you never will! And that's by design. We are always on a journey of learning what we don't know about our target customers by connecting with them and getting feedback from those we're working with to understand what drives them.

When you learn this and get better at it, all of your efforts in marketing and reaching new people to have conversations with will improve!

But you have to be willing to have a real human-to-human connection. No longer can you hide behind your computer and hope sales come rushing in.

Get out there, talk with some people - comment back to people, connect inside other Facebook Groups, Youtube videos, comment threads, social media posts, and comment back with people to learn from them what you don't know.

Take a genuine interest in other people - people other than yourself - and what they are experiencing - to grow and discover what you need to build and develop your business.

The Real Reason People Struggle To Launch Their Business

I used to be one of the most fearful, victim mentality people that I know. Always expecting other people to take the blame for my own choices.

This ruined plenty of relationships for me and I always found something to complain about (go figure). I was constantly blaming other people and circumstances for why I couldn't build my business.

Then, I realized the truth.

My business success is 100% my responsibility, no one else's. It's 100% on me what I do every single day. No client work, no partners, no one else was to be.

Nothing outside of me was responsible for why I couldn't build my business...

Lack of time wasn't why, even tho I convinced myself it was.

Lack of financial resources want why, even tho I believed it was..

Lack of knowledge wasn't why, even tho I thought it was.

It wasn't even God's timing or his plan, even tho I was convinced it was...

None of those things had anything to do with why I couldn't build my business.

It was 100% my choice. My choosing.

I was choosing to not build my business, and using those lame cop-out excuses to blame because I refused to take personal responsibility.

It was my unreasonable need to "do everything perfect" that was keeping me stuck moving forward.

Things changed when I read this book called "Extreme Ownership" (you can grab it here with my affiliate link: amzn.to/3cVJ1vY) and it taught me this...

Nothing and no one is responsible for my business success except me! I was the one responsible for prioritizing my time, doing my best with what was in front of me.

Self-discipline is the only thing that gets results.

You have nothing to blame outside of you for why you aren't taking action.

Lack of time, resources, knowledge, outside responsibilities, even "God's plan" are all crap excuses for not building your business. I know they "feel" real, they feel like what's keeping you from reaching your goals, and maybe you've convinced yourself of that - but the truth is, it's 100% on you.

You can figure out what's important to you. The fact that you haven't yet means you've 100% fully chosen that you don't want things to grow. That's it.

We have to prioritize what's important to us every single day, and then do those things.

Don't be afraid to step out and take risks. As long as you allow fear to rule your life, you'll sit around blaming other things for why you can't build your business.

Or you can choose to build your business regardless of what's going on outside of you or around you.

That's 100% on you by your choosing. Choose different. Start building your business today, not tomorrow. That's the only way things will change.🙂

The Importance of Human Connection In Digital Marketing

There's a big lie that I used to believe when I first started selling things online years ago: the internet is a great place to HIDE from people and get them to buy something without revealing your identity.

Well, I've learned over the years, this could not be further from the truth.

The internet is all about people. It's all about connecting with people.

To successfully sell online, you have to become good at connecting with people.

We often try to avoid this human to human to connection in exchange for "gaming" the system to get more sales.

We're looking for a "slight edge" to get more sales without making those connections.

I get it. A connection can be challenging. It means people can judge you and be mean. You have to grow some thick skin in this game.

Online marketing is about connecting with people and getting them to buy what you sell while not caring who hates you in the process.

If you're selling valuable products and services that improve people's lives, you have nothing to worry about if people hate you!

If you deliver on your promises and are a good person, even if people don't like you, it will have ZERO effect on your bottom line.

One thing we need to start doing is expecting other people to like us online and that when they like us, they will want to buy what we are selling. Yes, I know this sounds opposite to what I just said.

If you can simultaneously not care if people hate you WHILE expecting that most people will like you, and not watching if they do or not (I had to repeat that part), you'll be extremely successful selling online.

To sell online, you have to impart vision to your target customer of what they will experience after they purchase from you. You want them to be able to see, taste, smell, etc., what it will be like to buy from you!

The transformation that your product and service bring needs to be imparted to people for the sales process to work.

Detach your emotions and happiness from the outcome, from getting the sale, from things going how you want.

In the beginning, you're probably not going to sell a whole lot. That's normal. That's by design. Don't even worry about it.

Just keep going, stay consistent, stay faithful to the process.

If you present yourself as the go-to person for the solutions you offer and help other people see that you have the solution they want, you'll be able to sell to them online.

You have to connect with your target customer emotionally. You have to hook them in with what they want so that you can deliver the solution they need!

Don't get so caught up in making YOUR will come to pass in sales, but rather: how can I serve my target customer. How can I help them reach their goals?

When you focus on serving your target customer, when you care more about your target customer than you do your product, when you focus more on your communication and connection with people, you'll have set yourself up for success to sell more online.

Products don’t sell themselves. People do. People who believe in products buy them.

Increase the level of trust your target customer has in your product or service, and you'll be able to sell them anything!

What are you doing today to start getting more sales in your business?

16 Proven Ways To Make Real Money On The Internet

One of the most common things I get asked is, "Jeremiah, what are some ideas for making money on the internet?"

I've always made money and helped people make the most amount of money through a combination of courses, events, and coaching around a specific niche topic that people need help with (usually to make more money).

I've been in this "industry" for 17 years now, so I know exactly what it takes for people to start making more money, especially using the internet.

So here is my list of ways that you can make money on the internet:

1.) Courses, Coaching & Live Training Events

This one is funny because I just mentioned above that that is what I do. When you get some experience making money on the internet, one of the best ways to make even more is to show others how you did it! So yes, this is huge!

You can also coach on teach on a variety of topics, not just how to make money!

A track record is crucial because it lends credibility to you. When you've done something, and it's something others want to do, you can always sell people the opportunity to be mentored by you on how you did it!

Courses, coaching, and events are the model that I like using, a combination of these. This type of business can scale big, especially when you add writing and publishing to it - the sky is the limit. I've seen many people make $10-50MM a year doing this, and then usually, they will take a portion of those funds to pivot into other industries to serve their target customer.

So if you can help others get results with the information you already know, they will pay you cash. You can use my business as a model for that and do what I do (really)!

2.) Freelancing Services

This is probably one of the fastest ways to start making money on the internet. There are always people looking for services; you just have to know how to network and get in front of them. They are everywhere!

You can learn a new skill (take any of my courses, for example) and then start a business doing the skill you learned for other people and charging them for it!

This is the fastest way to make $15,000/month on the internet very quickly. You only need 3-4 full-time clients to create a stable 6-figure income!

Learn a skill, then do it for other people.

The skill ultimately has to be in demand. And that's with anything on this list. If there's market demand for what you offer, your goal will be to find people to pay you for it.

3.) Ecommerce / Sell Physical Products

If there's a market demand for a physical product, and you can find the people who want that product, you can sell physical products that you ship out! You'll want to figure out how to either manufacture (the hard way) or outsource the manufacturing (easier) or dropship (easiest) the product. The less work you have to do and the better margins, the more money you can make. This could also include network marketing products that you believe in as well.

4.) Affiliate Marketing

Some companies want you to help sell their products for them and are willing to offer a commission for doing so! You can earn money by finding as many people as possible who want these products and getting them to buy. I made $750,000 in revenue one-year doing Affiliate Marketing!

This is a great way to sell if you don't have a product or service. This is also similar to commission-based sales and network marketing, except it's a little more straight forward. You get a specific link online that people sign up with, and you get credit for each sale that goes through your link.

5.) Virtual Assistant

This is similar to a freelancing job, but you are assisting someone virtually with specific tasks. You are not on location physically but are assisting either a CEO or a manager with tasks they need to be done! This is very lucrative, and you can get several full-time clients to earn an excellent full-time income doing VA work!

6.) YouTube

You can set up a YouTube channel on a specific topic and talk about what people are interested in watching. As you get viewers, YouTube will pay you, tho you have to get a lot of viewers to make any significant money, which is why endorsements and selling your own products are still the best way to make money online.

7.) Blogging

Blogging is a great way to make money, and you can even run ads on your blog or direct people to other products that you promote from your blog. Ultimately, there are only a few things that you can do to bring in cash online, and then there are hundreds of methods to promote and market those things. You're either selling products or services for yourself or someone else.

8.) App Development

If your app has a paid subscription model and serves a need that people want, you can get thousands of users paying you a small fee and making an excellent income!

Digital apps are a great way to make money, but you do have to innovate.

There's also the challenge of getting users for your app with marketing and advertising (this is ultimately the challenge for all of these ways to make money).

9.) Writing (For Yourself or Other People)!

This is an activity that you can do either for yourself - and sell books or ebooks, or you can write for other people (service-based, freelance or ghostwriting) and make good money that way! If you learn to write sales copy, you can make even more money because you are helping the person you're writing for make a lot of money. Sales copy is specific writing that gets people to buy products and services and is usually measured by the result it brings in, not the hours worked.

10.) Sell Things Around Your House

This is one of the most common ways to make some money online that few people think about.

Selling products around your house on eBay is extremely easy, as well as Facebook marketplace.

If you need some cash fast, selling things you have around the house is a great place to start.

Most people can find $500 worth of stuff to sell in their house (it might not be things you want to get rid of, but you can if you need to) in a pinch!

11.) Social Media Management and Consulting

This goes back to the freelance ideas I mentioned above. Right now, many people need social media, and they need help creating content or even coming up with ideas. A great way to make money is by helping people with their social media online.

12.) Design Work

Again, in the freelance category, you can do design work for other people. Canva.com is a great website to create designs for people. You can customize designs off this site, or places like graphicriver.net, doing work for people's design needs!

13.) Upwork or Fiverr

Again, in the freelance category (you might notice a trend here), you can pick up gigs to do work for other people on these sites with skills. You may have to learn some new skills, but people will pay you money online to do freelance jobs through these sites!

14.) Uber/Lyft

This is sort of online because it uses an app. If you have a 4-door car, you can make money driving people around on these services! I know some people who've supplemented their income doing this, and it's still a viable option for many people on the side to make some extra cash!

15.) Lead Generation (Add Sales Nurture As a Bonus)

If you can help businesses generate leads online, they will pay you for these! As a bonus, you can help warm the leads up and get paid a pretty high price for hot warmed up leads that you talked to and nurtured.

Generate hundreds of these for multiple clients, and you can make a lot of money online doing this!

16.) Online Community

You can create an online community and charge a membership fee to be a part of it. This can be around a variety of topics. If you can help others who all share things in common and provide a valuable resource in the paid community, people will pay money. We're helped build online communities above 4000 monthly members and generated seven figures this way for clients.

As you can see, there are so many ways to make money on the internet, and these just scratch the surface!

How To Manifest Financial Abundance (For Skeptics)

When things aren't going well financially for us, it can be very tempting to get emotionally depressed about our situation.

Unfortunately, this response, as natural as it is, only serves to worsen our situation.

I've experienced this several times in my own life. I've also seen first hand the power of abundance-minded declaration in my life - and the lives of several wealthy multi-millionaires that I've been around in my life.

I'm blessed to have spent much time with multi-millionaires who have been mentors in my life. I also am blessed (yes, I said blessed) to experience the lowest of low financial situations. The fact that I've lived in both extremes and seen both extremes, I think, gives me a unique perspective on this stuff.

It seems crazy - that declaring financial abundance in your life would produce positive finances, but I've seen it first hand.

I used to be a huge skeptic of this stuff happening for me.

I was raised that "word of faith" and "speak it into existence" was a scam!

I used to be an "I only eat what I killed" type person and tied my self-worth to my work - and the results I produced.

Sadly, I was faced head-on with the reality of abundance-minded thinking when my faith was tested. I struggled to pay bills - and this was when I discovered what abundance-minded thinking meant.

When things aren't working out well for you financially, and you're struggling to pay the bills, the best thing (and most challenging thing often) you can ever do is to declare an abundant financial future.

This is where faith comes in. There are versions of faith, too, I've discovered.

There's what I call "cop-out" faith - where on the outside you declare abundance, but on the inside, you're just as pessimistic as before - nothing has changed.

Then there's what's called "surrender faith" - where you give up 100% of all need to control how things turn, and you release your life into this level of faith.

Surrender faith is the kind that works. Cop-out faith doesn't because it's deceptive and a lie.

When we surrender the need to control everything in our lives to a higher power and give it up to God, we open up the flow of abundance into our lives.

You have to have real hope, real belief, in the face of all odds - in the front to a "reality" that is 100% opposite of the situation you're experiencing.

When you do this, and you combine that faith with action (faith without works is dead after all as well), this is where abundance manifestation happens.

Let me paint a picture for you of two situations:

1.) You can take massive action towards creating finances in your life - and be complaining about your reality. You will stop the flow of abundance. You will limit yourself to your belief and complaint level.

I never used to believe this. My wife is the one who taught me this first hand.

2.) As soon as you take massive action while DECLARING a financially abundant future, that's when random checks come in the mail.

My wife and I were struggling to pay our bills. We started having random checks appear in our bank account to cover what we needed every month (they made sense, but they were timed so ridiculously crazy that I KNOW for a fact it was from the declarations we were making).

I used to be a huge skeptic of this "speak it into existence" type stuff. I'm a firm believer, you can either choose to slow down the flow in your life, or you can choose to hop on the train, all aboard, and start declaring your future.

You can take all the best actions to produce financial results. Still, suppose your mindset is crap, and you're continually declaring death and destruction over your financial future. In that case, you will manifest struggle in life. That might be the life you've had up to this moment in time.

It matters whom you keep your company around as well. It matters whom you let speak into your life as well!

When you do your best, take the best actions towards financial results. You start declaring massive financial abundance; it opens a flow in your life that produces tremendous financial results, far greater than pessimism and negativity ever will. Even if "technically" all your actions are the same... The abundance mindset produces far superior results.

When you align your mind, body, and spirit in your goals' trajectory and declare a positive financial future, things come together for you.

I know that no article will "convince" you of this, it wouldn't have convinced me back in the day as well, but I want to invite you to try it out - take a risk and see what happens.

Will it be hard? Yeah! Is it worth it? 100%
